Escape to Adventure: Let Me Out Escape Room in Dufferin County

Have you ever experienced the thrill of an escape room? For Paul and his wife, a visit to an escape room at John A. MacDonald’s house sparked a creative idea to open a unique business in Dufferin County. Paul, with his deep love for puzzles, was inspired to create the first and only escape room in Dufferin County. During their 5-hour road trip back home, Paul reminisced about their escape room experience and exclaimed to his wife, “We have a vacant barn that’s spacious enough to make our own escape room!” Within those 5 hours, their plan was set, and in just 6 months, the ‘Let Me Out Escape Room’ was renovated.

Let Me Out – Escape Room opened its doors in 2017 and has been delighting guests for 8 successful years. Located on Hwy 10 in Mono just north of Orangeville, they are open seasonally from April 1st to October 31st, 7 days a week. This experience has created lasting memories for families, friends, and even corporate teams. “We’ve once had someone who was about 91 years old participate,” shared Paul, highlighting the inclusive nature of their experience. Pet lovers will be thrilled to know that Let Me Out is pet-friendly. “You could bring your dog and just let them sniff around while you’re enjoying the experience,” Paul mentioned, hinting at the possibility of your furry friend uncovering a clue or two.

The escape room is housed in a spacious 2,000 square foot barn, a stark contrast to the typical city escape room venues with small rooms in warehouse-style facilities. Paul’s innovative approach caters to those who are claustrophobic or prefer more open spaces. By breaking up larger groups into teams and comfortably accommodating up to 30 people at a time, Paul has created an inviting environment for all.

At Let Me Out – Escape Room, there’s always something to look forward to. Whether it’s conquering your first puzzle, beating the clock, or aiming for the top score, the experience is always exciting. According to Paul’s escape tracker, the fastest escape time for the easiest level is an impressive 52 minutes, with an average of 62 minutes for the hardest level. “They only have 60 minutes to escape,” Paul chuckled, highlighting the challenge that awaits participants. Paul keeps the experience fresh by regularly changing puzzles and moving pieces, ensuring that each visit is unique and engaging. And the fun doesn’t end with the escape. For every successful escape, a seedling is planted, allowing guests to contribute to the environment while enjoying their adventure.

Paul’s ultimate goal is simple: he wants guests to have a good time. “All that matters to me is that our guests have a good time,” he emphasized. It’s remarkable to think that a 154-year-old barn has been repurposed to bring fun and mystery to the community.
